Sockret Pal Pressies!
Oh, I am a lucky girl! I received my first
Sockret Pal package over the weekend.
Here we have the whole kit & kaboodle. As you can see, there is lots of
pink and lots of treats!
This is a very cool bag for holding knitting projects. It's the perfect size for socks.
Some lovely Wildfoote sock yarn. I've never used Wildfoote before, so that's very exciting! I love new kinds of sock yarn.
An adorable Christmas ornament.
A very cute sheepie, which I attached to the knitting bag, and the world's cutest tape measure! As tape measures are, in my opinion, like scissors, in that they seem to go missing when you need them most, I believe you can never have too many of them. (or too many pairs of scissors, for that matter.)
Seamen's Scarf
So, my mom asked me to knit a scarf for the
Seamen's Church Institute's Christmas at Sea program. Her church is collecting things. So I made this scarf, following the pattern they sent and using the icky acrylic they gave me. I told them I had much nicer yarn and I'd be willing to use it, but they said no, it must be the yarn they give.
I've still got 1 ball and 1 nearly full ball of it left. I don't think I have time to make another scarf before the deadline, so I'm sending it back to my mom. She thought she'd be able to whip up another one in time.

My package from
Lois for the
Chocolate Swap arrived yesterday, all the way from Singapore! It was filled with chocolatey goodness, and even better, most of it I've never had before. I love trying new chocolates. I ate one of the Hello Panda snacks this morning, and not only was it adorable, with little pandas printed on each cookie, it was also delicious. And you know how we love our pandas here in Washington.
She also sent yarn - 2 skeins of knitpicks sock yarn in cocoa, and a silky wool, which she so kindly wound into a center pull ball for me. I had mentioned to Lois that I don't have a ball winder, so this was a very thoughtful touch! Also included in the knitpicks package were some DPNs, of the new knitpicks Options variety. I can't wait to try them out.

Look what I got!
Presents from my new Secret Pal! Already! She is amazingly fast. She sent some great stuff... summer IK, pink yarn that I love, scrapbooking stuff (SP9, did you know my sorority's flower is the Iris? I can use the stickers when I actually get around to scrapbooking stuff from years past...), CHOCOLATE, a notepad. I love it all. Thank you so much!
And this is from my ISE scarf pal,
Brenda. She made me the blue scarf to match my blue coat. I wore it out on Saturday, not with my blue coat because it isn't that cold yet, but with a grey fleece vest, and I got a lot of compliments. It's super soft, too. She also sent chocolate, which I've already eaten (yay for Smarties! We can't get them here.), a pretty pink notepad, and some lavender candles. Thank you so much, Brenda! It's perfect.
Socks for a Small Child
These are some kids' socks I made for my friend Erin's new baby. I don't know if the baby has been born yet, so I don't know his name. Erin has already seen one of the socks, though, so it's safe to post about them. I thought they might fit her older child, Ben, but she said they would probably be too small. This way, the new baby can grow in to them.
The pattern was
Opal Kid's Sock, and I used leftover Lana Grossa sock yarn from my
sister's birthday socks. There's still a little bit left - going in to the pile for either tiny baby socks or a multi-patterned sock!
International Scarf Exchange
My scarf for the
International Scarf Exchange is done! I can't tell you who it's going to yet; that's still a secret.
I chose the
Irish Hiking Scarf, and I used KnitPicks Andean Silk, which is super soft and lovely.

I've been playing
Sock Wars, and now I'm dead. I didn't even finish my first pair. But, the socks I received from
Chymerikaen are quite lovely!

SP 9 Questionnaire
1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like? Oh, I love merino. Pretty much, though, I like anything soft and nothing scratchy. I don't like acrylic. and I don't have much use for novelty yarns.
2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in? I have the Denise needles, and they are in their own little kit. My straight needles are in a needle roll. My other circs and my dpns are in a ziplock bag.
3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced? About 4 years, and my mom taught me. I'd say intermediate, but I'm not scared to try new techniques.
4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? Yes, Amazon. I tried posting it and it didn't work, so let me know if you want it and I will email it to you.
5. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products, etc.) Lavender. I hate vanilla unless it is in food.
6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy? Yes. I love dark chocolate, the slightly bitter kind.
7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin? No spinning. I also scrapbook, do some jewelery making, needlepoint, and I'm working on my sewing skills.
8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD) Mostly indie pop... my Amazon list has a good cross section of what I like. I love Ben Lee, Belle & Sebastian, Ben Kweller, etc... Yep, I can play MP3s.
9. What's your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can't stand? I like girly colors, pinks and light greens and yellows. I also like bright colors... really, I like all colors! I can't think of any I can't stand, except maybe the 70s style orange-y yellow-y colors.
10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets? I usually live by myself, but right now my dad is living with me. No pets.
11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos? Yes, yes, yes, no.
12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit? SOCKS! I love socks.
13. What are you knitting right now? socks, Green Gables, and the Irish Hiking scarf.

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic? Circs. Bamboo is tops, but I do like the Denise needles as well, and they're plastic...

17. How old is your oldest UFO? Gosh, about 2 years? Knitty's Kyoto. I just need to seam it up.
18. What is your favorite holiday? My birthday, closely followed by Christmas.
